Mokumé Gané

Mokumé Gané, meaning “wood grain”, is a centuries-old, japanese technique that joins different coloured metals into one piece. The end product gives a similar effect to marble cake or the grain of a piece of wood.

The process of constructing a piece of Mokumé Gané, known as a billet, takes hours to complete. The billet will have at least 30 alternating layers of metals.
